•Responsibility for some benefits is devolved to the Scottish government.
•Several one-off grants and benefits for disabled people and carers will eventually be different in Scotland.
•Scottish child payment, child disability payment and several one-off payments, including child winter heating assistance, have already been introduced.
•From spring 2022, personal independence payment will start to be replaced by adult disability payment for new claims.
•Later in 2022, cold weather payments will be replaced in Scotland by low income winter heating assistance.
•Social Security Scotland (part of the Scottish government) administers and pays the ‘Scottish benefits’.
•The rules about how to claim Scottish benefits and challenge decisions are different from the rules for the other benefits in this Handbook.
