2. Do you qualify?
To qualify for income-based JSA, you must meet the basic qualifying conditions for JSA set out in Chapter 13(2). In addition, you must meet all of the following conditions.
    ◦You must have no income, or your income is below your ‘applicable amount’ (see 6 below).
    ◦You (and your partner) must not be claiming income support, income-related employment and support allowance or pension credit.
    ◦You cannot have more than £16,000 in savings or capital (see Chapter 24(24)).
    ◦If you have a partner, they must not be working for 24 or more hours a week (see 3 below).
    ◦You must be aged 18 or over; or aged 16 or 17 and pass other tests (see 4 below).1JSA, Ss.3, 3A & 13
You must not be subject to immigration control (see Chapter 55(2)) and must satisfy the habitual residence test (see Chapter 55(4)).
