7. Does anything affect what you get?
Other benefits – You cannot get SSP while you are receiving employment and support allowance, severe disablement allowance, ‘new style’ or contribution-based jobseeker’s allowance, statutory maternity pay, maternity allowance, statutory paternity pay, statutory shared parental pay, statutory parental bereavement pay or statutory adoption pay. Other benefits do not affect your entitlement to SSP. See Box D.1 for other circumstances in which you cannot get SSP.
Earnings from another job – If your employer accepts you are incapable of doing the work they employ you to do, you can earn money from a different type of work while receiving SSP. There is no limit on what you can earn from a different job while receiving SSP. However, doing other work may lead an employer to doubt you are genuinely incapable of doing your usual job.
Going into hospital – This will not affect entitlement to SSP.
