•Responsibility for some benefits is devolved to the Scottish government.
•Several one-off payments and benefits for disabled people and carers will eventually be different in Scotland.
•Several different payments and grants, and Scottish child payment for low-income families with a child under six, have already been introduced.
•In 2021, disability living allowance for children will start to be replaced by child disability payment for new claims.
•Social Security Scotland (part of the Scottish government) administers and pays the new benefits.
•The rules about how to claim Scottish benefits and challenge decisions are different from the rules for the other benefits in this Handbook.
