Chapter 18: Help with ground rent, service charges and other housing costs
This chapter covers:
1. Who can get help with housing costs (
here)
2. Which housing costs can be met (
here)
3. The amount of housing costs (
here)
4. Waiting periods (
here)
5. Liability to pay housing costs (
here)
6. Occupying accommodation as your home (
here)
8. Housing costs run-on (
here)
If you are an owner-occupier or a long leaseholder, this chapter covers the rules for help with ground rent, service charges and other housing costs that can be included in your pension credit (or in your income support, income-based jobseeker’s allowance or income-related employment and support allowance, if you still qualify for these). It does not cover the rules on help with these costs for universal credit (see Chapter
6) or for help with your rent with housing benefit (see Chapter
10). It does not cover DWP loans for mortgage interest (see
here).
