Exceptions
Even if you fall within the definition of care leaver (including if you are in continuing care), if you are a lone parent or if you are entitled to statutory sick pay, you are not excluded from IS or income-based JSA.1Reg 2(3) C(LC)SSB Regs You are still excluded from HB. This also applies to you if you are in ‘continuing care’ and you fall within the definition of care leaver. Note: even if you are not excluded from IS/income-based JSA, you will probably have to claim UC instead.
