2. Decisions and delaysDecisions about benefits and tax credits are made by decision makers from the relevant authority – eg, the Department for Work and Pensions. You are entitled to written notification of all decisions. Decisions should be made within a reasonable timescale. If there are long delays, you should make a complaint (see here) and check whether you could get a short-term advance, interim payment or payment on account.
