Key facts
    •Universal credit (UC) has now been introduced nationwide for most new claimants.
    •When you come under the UC system, UC replaces most other means-tested benefits and tax credits.
    •Current claimants of means-tested benefits and tax credits do not automatically come under the UC system, but can transfer to UC – eg, by claiming UC after a change of circumstances, or under the government’s ‘managed migration’ transfer process.
    •The managed migration transfer process is due to start in November 2020. It is currently being tested.
