Benefits taken into account include:

•contribution-based jobseeker’s allowance;
•contributory employment and support allowance;
•most industrial injuries benefits;
•maternity allowance;
•retirement pension.
Benefits that are ignored include:
•attendance allowance;
•Best Start grant;
•carer’s allowance supplement and young carer grant;
•child benefit;
•disability living allowance;
•funeral support payments;
•personal independence payment.
