•Several one-off payments and benefits for disabled people and carers will eventually be different in Scotland.
•Social Security Scotland (part of the Scottish government) has been set up to administer and pay the new benefits.
•The Best Start grant pregnancy and baby payment has already been introduced. It is expected that Best Start grant payments for young children, funeral expense assistance and a young carer grant will be introduced in 2019.
•The rules about how to claim Scottish benefits and challenge decisions are different.
•The rules on some other payments, including the Scottish welfare fund, council tax reduction and discretionary housing payments, are also different in Scotland, but these are not part of the Scottish social security system.
