•If, following a period of employment abroad, you have returned to Great Britain and you remained ordinarily resident in Great Britain while you were away, you may be able to rely on periods of employment abroad to satisfy the employment and earnings condition for maternity allowance (MA).1SS(MatA)(WA) Regs

•In some circumstances, you may be able to rely on periods you have worked in other European Economic Area countries to qualify for MA (see here). Note: at the time of writing, it was not known how this rule would be affected when the UK leaves the European Union (see here).
